BUSINESS IN A BOX (BIZBOX) PROJECT

EMPOWERING THE YOUTH FOR A BETTER AND BRIGHTER FUTURE
The Business In A Box (BizBox) Project is a partnership between the Mastercard Foundation and Ghana
Enterprises Agency (GEA). The goal of the 4-year Project is to create dignified and fulfilling jobs for 250,000 young people in Ghana, with 70% being women and 10% Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) by 2027.
The synergy of this partnership lies within the Agency’s mandate as the apex body to promote and develop Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises(MSMEs) in Ghana and the Foundation's vision for Ghana; to enable 3 million young women and men access dignified and fulfilling work by 2030.

The Five Broad Intervention Pillars

Partners

PILLAR 1: Youth Skills Development

This pillar focuses on providing participants with training to shift their mindset to become entrepreneurs and be empowered enough to lead in their communities and businesses.

PILLAR 2: Access to Market

The pillar provides linkages to market opportunities across the country. A lack of or inadequate access to markets is a huge challenge and a major barrier to sales revenues and profitability for most MSMEs, especially those in poor communities or areas with limited markets who cannot afford to register their products with regulatory agencies.

PILLAR 3: Access to Start-up Kits

The pillar provides the needed tools to qualified participants to propel them to start new businesses once they complete their training or apprenticeship.

PILLAR 4: Youth Social Networks

This pillar builds the capacity of women and persons with disabilities through technical and entrepreneurship training and the provision of start-up kits, impacting their economic well-being and empowering them to participate fully in the decision-making of their communities.

PILLAR 5: Institutional Strengthening, Policy, and Regulatory Support

A robust implementation strategy for the recently developed National MSME and Entrepreneurship Policy, as well as enforcement of the Local Economic Development Policy, aims to bring economic empowerment and support to disadvantaged communities, individuals, and the local economy, including PWDs.
