GEA is implementing the second phase of the COVID-19 Response Grant programme to provide liquidity and support for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) to enable SMEs to adjust, and to grow out of the COVID-19 crisis in selected sectors of the economy. The nationwide grant programme will focus on only SMEs most impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as those who showed resilience during the pandemic. This second phase of the COVID-19 Response Grant programme will focus strongly on exporting firms and export-oriented SMEs.
Phase One of the COVID-19 Response Grant Programme commenced in June 2021. Phase Two will be rolled out in July 2022 and expected to spur the economic recovery of SMEs.
A sum of US$5 million (cedis equivalent) has been disbursed to over 370 SMEs during the Phase One between September 2021 to March 2022. An additional US$5 million has been earmarked for the Second Phase of the COVID-19 Response Grant which will target another 350 SMEs.
